In December 2016 Medicine in Motion and Soles in Motion relocated to 133 Baker Drive in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. If you click on our address in the blue banner at the top of our website you will be able to see our location on a map.

No. Only Sports Medicine is at this location now. The closest walk-in clinic is at 240 Baker Drive, above the Lawtons. They can be reached at 902-420-6060. Most of the family doctors moved to 667 Sackville Drive, above the Lawtons. They can be reached at 902-865-8120. Dr. Saric retired and Dr. Mortera now practices in Halifax.

Yes, you will need a referral from your family physician, a walk-in clinic physician or an ER physician to see one of our Sports Medicine Physicians. The ONLY exception to this the monthly Self-Referral Knee Assessment Clinic (see details on this clinic under the Our Services section of the website).

Please note that we can only assess one injury/one body part per visit. If you have more than one injury that requires an assessment by one of our Sports Medicine Physicians you will be asked to book an additional appointment. Another referral may be required.

You do NOT need a referral to see our registered dietician, Canadian certified pedorthists, orthopedic bracing technicians, physiotherapist, massage therapist, foot care nurse or personal trainer. See Our Services for details on these services.

Once we have received your referral from the referring physician requesting an appointment with one of our Sports Medicine Physicians WE WILL CALL YOU directly as soon as an appointment has been booked for you. If you wish to check your appointment date/time you can call us at 902-468-7911 Ext #2. If we have called you with an appointment date/time it is very important for you to CONFIRM your appointment time with us by phone or email at mimclinic101@gmail.com through the Book Appointment icon at the top RIGHT corner of our website.

No, you do not need to be an athlete to be assessed and treated at our clinic. Whether you are a professional athlete, a recreational athlete or you just want to remain as active as possible in your daily life, ALL of our patients have access to the same level of exceptional care from our team of healthcare professionals.

Yes, on a regular basis we have medical learners (both medical students and family medicine residents) at our clinic who are working closely with our Sports Medicine Physicians to enhance their sports medicine knowledge and improve their physician examination skills and injection techniques.

If you do NOT wish to see a medical learner please let our receptionist or physician assistant know when you book your appointment or arrive for your appointment.

You should bring the following to your appointment with one of our Sports Medicine Physicians:

  • Valid Nova Scotia Health Card
  • A pair of shorts for any leg/knee/hip or lower back assessment
  • A tank top for any neck/upper back or shoulder assessment
  • Copies of lab tests, investigation results or consultation notes pertinent to your problem, if available

Yes, the medical services provided by our Sports Medicine Physicians are covered by your provincial health card.

Many of the other services provided at our clinic (registered dietician, physiotherapy, massage therapy, Foot Care Clinics, personal trainer) may be covered by your health insurance provider. To confirm coverage you would need to check your health insurance policy.

If you do not have a valid Canadian health card or if you have Quebec Health Insurance, you will have to pay a fee for any consultations and follow-ups with our Sports Medicine Physician.

Some services provided by the Sports Medicine Physicians are uninsured by MSI so a fee will be changed to the patient:

  • Tray fee for injections to cover the cost of the supplies
  • Completion of forms
  • Provision of a note to excuse patient from work
  • Exercise prescription monitoring

For the services provided by other healthcare professionals at our clinic that are not covered by your Health Card or your health insurance provider would require a fee to be paid for these services.

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. We require 24 hours, or one business day, notice of a cancellation by telephone or email. Late cancellations or unattended appointments will incur a full appointment fee.

There is free parking available right in front of the clinic.
